Winning the toss and electing to bat in this 40 over friendly played in excessive heat, Wyre Piddle found runs hard to come by, being 52 for 6 wickets after 20 over's. Michael Oakley (24) and George Wilesmith (14) making a show. Then a stubborn fight back by Corbett (25), Andy Green (18 n.o.) and a superb innings by Andy McClaughlan (62 n.o.), including one six and eleven fours, took Wyre to 176-8 in their 40 over's.
In reply Kempsey made a steady start with David Robinson (25) and Andy Newcombe (36) but four brilliant catches by Graham Peisse off some excellent bowling by Wyre soon had the home side reeling. Steve Robins (11), Dan Smith-Keitley (12) and Eric Hall (13) being the best of the rest with Kempsey all out on the last ball of the 40th over for 126. Lancelot (5-37), McBride (1-29), Andy McClaughlan (2-15), George Wilesmith (1-32) and captain Pete Bond, one over, one maiden 2 wickets saw Wyre the winners by 50 runs. Man of the match being voted as Andy McClaughlan from Wyre Piddle making 62 runs not out and taking 2 wickets.
