Match Report  for
Kempsey v Crowle 40 over friendly Sunday 3rd August 2003

In June of this year Crowle beat Kempsey in a rain affected game by 5 wickets and Kempsey were hoping to keep their best winning run for two years going on this hot Sunday Afternoon, 40 over friendly. Kempsey started well by winning the toss and electing to bat and an opening partnership between David Robinson and Mark Williams (19 including two fours) of 42 put Kempsey in good stead but 15 over's had passed. Will Perry came to the wicket but only 10 runs were added before he was bowled. Steve Robins came to the crease and a stand of 96 with David Robinson saw a respectable score on a hard wicket but fairly green. With the score on 148 David Robinson was clean bowled on 68 including nine fours. Eric Hall (11 not out) partnered Steve Robins enabling him to reach 59 (including eleven fours) and Kempsey to 183 for 6 wickets off their allotted 40 over's. Shaun Jones (2-20 off 8 over's), Ian Hope (2-38 off 6 over's), Richard Allen (1-38 off 8 over’s) and Mike McCarthy (1-27 off 8 over’s) the wicket takers for Crowle.

In reply Crowle started well with openers Ian Millington (20 including four fours caught behind) and Ian Hope (33 bowled including six fours) setting a great start. With Crowle on 94 for 4 after 21 over's this was to be a tight game but a stand of 59 between Shawn Jones (39 including 5 fours and 2 sixes and Lyndon Bendall pushed the score to 151 for 5  after 30 over's. After the fall of Shawn Jones’s wicket, Lyndon Bendall (47 not out including 5 fours and 1 six out of the ground), ran out of partners trying to keep strike and leaving Crowle 181 all out in the 39th over. With Kempsey winning by 2 runs.
With all Kempsey bowlers taking wickets Andy Newcombe (1-27 after 8 over's), Will Perry (2-37 after 7.4 over's), Mark Williams (2-45 after 8 over's), Steve Robins (1-45 after 8 over's) and Eric Hall (2-23 after 7 rovers).
This being the fourth success in four weeks for Kempsey with their highest total at home
