Fixtures, teams, match reports & Photos  for 2003
Dear Member,

 Welcome to the 2003 Season

The bad news first - Annual Subscriptions are now due. Seniors £10-00, Colts (17 years to 19 years) £7-50, Juniors (13 years to 16 years) £5-00 and Non Players £10-00.

Now for some good news. Practice nets have been booked at the Sports Hall, University College, Worcester for 9 weeks commencing Sunday 2nd March through to Sunday 27th April. Time 5 p.m - 6 p.m (same arrangement as last year). Cost £1-50 per session for all attending.

Steve Robins, now Captain, has outlined his plan for maximum benefit from these practice sessions, which will include longer batting periods for all with assistance from senior staff to pass on hints on how to improve your game. Please do take advantage of this.

The enclosed provisional fixture list includes a tour weekend at Brighton for the August Bank Holiday Weekend. More details as soon as quotes for Hotel and Transport are to hand. It is expected to travel Saturday am., game on the Saturday afternoon, Hotel, Game Sunday, Hotel, leave for home Monday morning.

Looking to the future we believe a strong player base of 30 cricketers will ensure the best First XI will be fielded every week. A second XI is then within our capabilities, with reserves to cover work and family commitments.  To this end we are placing an advert with the local Evening News for players and are also enclosing an enrolment form with this letter. If you have a relative, friend or acquaintance who is interested in playing then please invite them to join. Don’t stop at players, as wives, parents, girlfriends, relatives are welcome as Non-playing members of your Cricket Club. We are also actively seeking a person, or persons, to take on and restart the Junior Section. Coaching Courses available from W.C.B. This is vital, not only for the survival of the Club in the years to come but with changes in the criteria for applying for Grant Aid, the Juniors are essential.

Work has been ongoing during the Winter on the Cricket Square with everything proceeding to plan. The Sports Association have agreed to have the whole field sprayed against weeds in March followed by re-seeding in April and also treatment for worm control. Our ground should look and play better for this treatment.

Please be so kind as to telephone either the secretary, David Harrison on 828107, or myself on 820043, to let us know if you will be available this season.

Looking forward to seeing you at Nets with fingers crossed for fine cricket weather and a successful season for Kempsey Cricket Club.

Yours sincerely,

Maurice Smith - Chairman
