Kempsey won the toss in this friendly against E. E. M. from Kent touring Worcestershire for the Bank Holiday weekend and elected to bat with the weather bright and sunny and 12 players each side. The openers for Kempsey put on 87 before the loss of Steve Robins (28). Dipu Pillai (captain of EEM) put the brakes on Kempsey with only 4 runs coming off his first four over's but Dan Smith-Keitley had other ideas and soon knocked a quick 40 (including 6 fours) before being bowled by Dipu. Opener Mark Williams remained un-defeated at the end of his innings gaining his first century of his 15 year career and finished 117 not out including 17 fours. His partner at the end of the innings also un-defeated was Gary Barrett who has been waiting for 3 games to get a bat and finished on 20 with 2 fours and the only 6 of the game. Kempsey finishing on 225 for 2 with Dipu Pillai 68-1 and Dave Evans 42-1 the wicket takers for EEM.
In reply the openers for EEM put on 63 ( Keith Hutchinson 26, and John Killpartrick 34) before they were both out and a steady stream of wickets falling started. Malcolm Lee (16) and Tom O’Hara (13) the only other members to reach double figures with the innings finishing on 128 for 10. The wicket takers for Kempsey being Jagan (4 over's, 3 maidens, 2 runs, 1 wicket), Eric Hall (7-1-18-3), Mark Williams (4-1-6-2), Neil Webley (3-0-14-3) and Gerald Chance (2-0-15-1) making a good all-round performance by Kempsey winning by 97 runs.
