Welcome to a New Year and New Season for Kempsey Cricket Club.
As usual the bad news first - your Annual Subscription is now due. No increases however, Senior Players £10, Colts (l7-19yrs) £7.50, Juniors (under l7yrs) £5 and Non-players £10.
We have been accepted back into the Worcester Evening League and will be playing in Division 2. Twelve x Eight ball over's. Start 6.30 p.m. We are also entered for at least two Cup games. Provisional fixture list enclosed. Several new players have expressed a wish to play Evening League cricket and are most welcome. Perhaps some may even turn out on Sundays?
David Robinson, Fixture Secretary, has once again arranged a full programme of Sunday Friendlies. We enjoyed a most successful season last year, let's hope we can continue in the same vein. Our star “Tea Lady”, Cherry Robinson, has retired so this is an opportune moment for players to encourage their ladies to fill an important post and to all present Lady Members to again give us such delightful teas.
Following the, A.G.M. in November, several changes were made in the Club structure. Mark Williams was elected Evening League and Sunday Captain. We wish him well and trust that everyone will get behind him and give 100% commitment.
A new post of Team Manager has been filled by David 'Spike' Robinson who will be responsible for all arrangements off the field, i.e. notifying players of selection etc..
Much difficulty has been experienced in arranging Indoor Practice Nets due to the withdrawal of facilities at University Colleges and Perdiswell Sports Centre, this has left only the Royal Grammer School (who are fully booked) and Hanley Castle High School who can fit us in on Sundays, 3-4pm from March 7th through to April 25th. This is a two bay net and quite expensive to hire, so fees will have to be £2.50 per head for all attending, including spectators. More details will be available later.
