Kempsey started their season with a 40 overs Friendly versus Wyre Piddle.
Winning the toss Kempsey asked Wyre to bat on a slow, drying wicket. Runs were slow to come, Wyre losing three wickets in the first four overs. Wilson (23) including five fours, being top scorer with Taylor (14). The Piddlers being all out for 81 in 26 Overs.
Will Perry (l6~4), Will Smith (9-3), Brian Salisbury (14-2) and Mark Williams (19-1) the wicket takers for Kempsey.
In reply Kempsey too made a slow steady start until the introduction of Richard Lancelot to the bowling. Wickets began to tumble with only Steve Robins (33) with two fours and David Robinson (11) reaching double figures. It was left to Brian Salisbury (4 no) and Derek Obrey (6 no) to stick it out, Obrey hitting the winning run in the 34th over.
Richard Lancelot (8-3-10-6) took the Man of the Match Award with Wilson (17-2) and Nathan (17-1) the other Wyre bowlers.
