Kempsey won the toss and elected to bat in this 40 over friendly.
Tight bowling kept the score down for the first six over's with Kempsey loosing opener Lance Ohren (6). This brought on Jon Dean to partner David Robinson. This pair put together a partnership of 176 before Dean (51) with 7 fours was bowled. David Robinson continued to build his innings, surviving being dropped on 99, to carry his bat for a personal career best of 137 with 21 fours. Mark Williams (27 no) with 3 fours saw out the 40 over's with Kempsey finishing on 248 - 2. Joe Hill (30-1) and Paul Glaze (35-1) the wicket takers.
In reply Hewell found the going hard, loosing two wickets in the first seven over's. Will Smith bowling M. Hill (7) and dispatching C. Hill for a duck being caught and bowled. Joy Hill (121) with 16 fours put together a partnership of 88 runs with Mark Jones (24). Tim Demain (17) and Rick Harding (16) the only other batsmen to reach double figures with Hewell 213 for 8 at the close. Mark Williams (27-3), Will Smith (30-2), Jon Dean (45-1) and Brian Salisbury (46-1) the wicket takers.
Kempsey winning by 35 runs.
